Why we run health checks the way we do
A health check is only as useful as the conversation that follows it. Many private medicals deliver a stack of numbers without context; we begin with the conversation and let the tests serve it. Your doctor takes a careful history first, performs the examination personally, and discusses every result with you in plain English before sending the written report.
That structure is consistent across every check we offer — from the fifteen-minute Basic screen to the multi-hour Executive medical. The difference between tiers is breadth of investigation, not quality of attention.
Choosing the right check
If this is your first private medical and you are otherwise well, the Premium Health Check or the Essential Health Screen offers a thorough annual baseline. If you are over forty, an annual Well Man or Well Woman check provides full age-appropriate screening with a follow-up included. For comprehensive cancer screening with imaging, the Executive package is the most complete offering we have.
If you are unsure, call us. We will not upsell — most patients fit comfortably in the £255–£690 range, and we would rather you book a smaller check and add tests on the day than commit to one too large.
What every check includes
Regardless of tier, every health check includes:
- An unhurried consultation with one of our experienced physicians
- A full physical examination conducted by your doctor (not delegated)
- A written, personalised report with a clear action plan
- A follow-up appointment to discuss results and next steps
Specific tests vary by tier — the comparison above lists exactly what is included in each.
How do I choose the right check?
Most patients beginning preventative care book the Premium Health Check or the Well Man / Well Woman check for a thorough annual baseline. If you are over forty and want broader cancer screening, the Cancer Health Check or an Executive package is appropriate. Call or email us if you would like guidance — we are happy to recommend without obligation.
Do I need to fast?
Yes for any check that includes blood lipids or HbA1c. We will confirm fasting requirements when you book. Stay well hydrated and avoid coffee on the morning of your appointment.
When do I get my results?
Routine blood results are typically back within one to three working days. Imaging results are reported by a consultant radiologist and sent to you with your written report and action plan. A follow-up appointment is included with most checks.
Are imaging scans done on the same day?
On-site ultrasound can usually be performed the same day. Whole-body MRI for the Plus and Executive packages is generally booked separately at our partner radiology centre. Call us if you require everything on one visit and we will arrange it.
Can I add or remove tests?
Yes. Every check is a starting point — your doctor can add specific blood tests, imaging, or specialist referrals based on your history and findings on the day.
